Card Card Fraud
Although Bank of America might be struggling to make modifications on its mortgages to ease the problems for homeowners, cardholders can at least take some comfort in this piece of good news. The bank has got the top scores in the run up to the best efforts by card issuers to combat identity fraud.
There were around 23 card issuers that were analyzed and Bank of America Corp was the top scorer in 3 categories that is, detection, prevention, and resolution. This is the fifth straight year that Bank of America has topped the charts according to a study conducted by Javelin Strategy and Research’s 7-year round up.
Bank of America had totaled a score of 87 points on a 100-point scale and managed to beat its own record of 81 points in 2009. D

Given some of the really quite rude things that he often says about banks and card issuers, you probably wont be too shocked to learn that your blogger doesnt have a single friend working for any of Americas credit card companies. So the mental picture he has of the scene in JPMorgan Chases marketing department on Monday morning is based entirely on speculation, and perhaps a little wishful thinking.
Chase executives must have spent months working with people at United Airlines to develop the new United MileagePlus® Explorer Card.

Shopping Shopping Habits
Banks always come up with new innovative ideas to earn revenue out of you. The latest idea is not to hit you with a new fee, but instead to use shopping data to their advantage. Most of the nation’s leading banks are now using information from their consumer’s shopping habits. They look into where they do their shopping, the amount they spend, what they purchase etc. This bit of data is then used by them to make money.
Retailers offer targeted discounts through the banks, based on this data. It is sent through email, text messages, or through the online statements that are generated by the banks.
